London Part 2
More from my trip to London. These were on Sunday June 4. I was completely jet-lagged so I gave up trying to sleep around 6 AM. I decided to take a walk. I don't scare easily but London at 6:30 AM was pretty sketchy. Lots of drunks still stumbling around from a night at the clubs looking for a fight on one side of the street; on the other, the more dodgy of the homeless.
I finally found a steady flow of joggers along the Thames and some gardners at the Victoria Embankment Gardens so I hung out there until the rest of the city woke up. The lawn in front of the National Gallery was covered with broken bottles and sleeping drunks when I walked by at 6:30. By 9 it was immaculate and ready for tourists. When I came back around lunch, I decided not to sit on the grass.

Peter Strauss Ranch Jazz Concert
My friend Jeannie and I went out to Malibu to paint. It was ridiculously hot and humid, (over 100 degrees). We stumbled on to a jazz concert at the Peter Strauss Ranch and hung out there, chasing the shade around the amphitheater. I don't know how long these ones took. Seemed like forever because I was having a hard time concentrating. I'm actually not even sure how long the concert was; It could have been an hour or it could have been 3.

25 minute quick paint
These are oil on canvas board. I'm taking a class with the fabulous Michelle Dunaway (at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art) --each pose is 25 minutes. Yeah-- for a full figure. I thought she was nuts too when she told me about the class but its very cool and very fun. Very.
This morning I was a little slow, so I spent it drinking coffee, doing laundry and other too exciting to mention here house chores. I didn't make it out for my early morning paint session before work. But my house is very clean (that's how I procrastinate). Its way too hot to go on my lunch hour, so this evening's post is not from my sketchbook but they fit the pattern of 30 minutes or less so here you go:

To and From Work
Today's paintings are all along my way to work.
I didn't realize that I had a theme going until I looked at them all together. Must be subconscious. Yesterday it was freeway underpasses (the first because I was parked underneath one).
8AM, Jimmy's Super Lunch.
8:30 AM, Circle Seven Drive.
7:30PM, Concord Drive.
